By now, all of our clients and readers should have heard about the switch from EDT to MCEDT – the new online method of medical claims transmission.  If you haven’t, it’s time to read up and get registered – the Ministry of Health reports it will no longer accept claim files via EDT as of January 1st, 2015.

A Call To Action

Physicians, like just about everyone else, often need a deadline to act.  This post is a friendly reminder that the deadline is nearly upon us.  For doctors who still need to register, this means that when the New Year arrives, you will not be able to send files and you won’t get paid.

Physicians, like pretty much everyone else, do like to be compensated for the work they do. To keep your paychecks coming (and deal with those post-Holiday bills) move “Register for MCEDT” to the top of your to-do-list.

Time Flies

We first blogged about MCEDT and MCEDT Registration in September.  There were about four months left to get organized.  Now, Halloween has passed us by and in a few short weeks we’ll be into the Holiday season and running right into the December 31st deadline for signing up.

So no more procrastinating…  it’s time to:

  1. Find or request your MCEDT registration letter from the MOH with your ‘unique identifiers’
  2. Set up your account at https://www.edt.health.gov.on.ca
  3. Set up your billing agents as Designees

Happily systemic changes of this sort don’t happen very often with OHIP, so once done, you won’t have to worry about MCEDT or any other such acronym for a good long while.

Please share this post with your colleagues, and share it with your friends.  If you need any help, or are not sure where you stand regarding registration, contact us as soon as possible.
